Summer 2012

Another year went by and I never got around to blogging, but at least I can make a list of what we did this summer. It wasn't as exciting as last summer, as we didn't travel anywhere, but at least my son did. He went to Oaxaca, Mexico, to volunteer in a Zapotec indian village for 8 weeks. He travelled with Amigos de las Americas, an excellent organization, and they did a good job of finding him a great host family.
Anyway, while he was in Mexico, the rest of us, hubby, tween daughter and myself, we:
- Spent a week at the beach in Duck, NC
- Got a new car (SUV)
- Celebrated tween daughter's 12 birthday with a pool party
- Tween daughter danced at several venues with her Chinese dance group
- First time at sleep-away horseback riding camp (she loved it!)
- Swim Team & PGA Junior Golf Team
- Hosted a 4th-of-July party at our home
- Attended a wedding near Charlottesville, VA
- Bought a hammock
- Went to the Family-Drive-In-Movie-Theater in Stephens City, VA
- Renaissance Festival
- Painted pottery
- Babysat the baby cousin
- Online writing course
- Started 7th grade
- Finished the summer by taking our poodles to the pool on Labor Day
- Welcomed back Teen Boy who is now a SENIOR is High School and is therefore applying to college very soon. Should be a fun year!
